Monique Celebrates Zutara, Sparrowbeth, Mr. & Ms. Bamf and More Unofficial Couples on Entertainment Weekly!

If you’ve followed my site long enough (and if you look in the left sidebar), you’ll have noticed that I write for Entertainment Weekly as a part of the Community blog. I’ve recapped TyrantAlmost Human, black-ish, and I’ve interviewed some stars, like Michael Ealy, Yara Shahidi and Marcus Scribner. But apart from all that stuff, I also introduce EW readers to the world of niche fandom topics like shipping.  Continue reading Monique Celebrates Zutara, Sparrowbeth, Mr. & Ms. Bamf and More Unofficial Couples on Entertainment Weekly!

“Sleepy Hollow”: Fox Encourages You to Make Memes Ridiculing Katrina and Henry’s Deaths

People have been worried about if Sleepy Hollow is coming back. Even I’ve been a little affected despite my belief that the show has a good chance at coming back. The new Fox pilot Frankenstein was making me a little concerned, since there are elements to the story that’s very similar to Sleepy Hollow‘s crazy sci-fi nonsense.

But there was one thing I saw yesterday that made me completely secure in Sleepy Hollow‘s future once again. That thing was seeing the official Fox Sleepy Hollow page invite people to make fun of Katrina and Henry’s deaths.

“Sleepy Hollow”: The Lesson Fox Learned about Viewers’ Love for Diversity on TV

I’ve been following Sleepy Hollow since the beginning (from my first website, Moniqueblog.net), so I’ve followed the fans ups and downs, whether it came to the first Ichabbie hug or when Katrina finally got out of Purgatory. I’ve loved seeing what meta critiques the fans have, and, to be fair, I’ve tried to do my part to stop needless worry about upcoming storylines, whether I helped or not. To say the least, my relationship with the fandom has become as layered as a relationship with fandom can become. Today, I’m writing this piece to give the Sleepy Hollow fandom the props they deserve.

“Sleepy Hollow”: Analyzing the “Mama” previews

As I’ve written in my “Fandom Strikes Back” article, the Sleepy Hollow writing team got a severe wake-up call from fans and press. Let’s thank our lucky stars that the next episode in the line-up is “Mama,” featuring Abbie and Jenny (and their mom!) front-and-center.

Here are some things I liked from the previews:

“Black Twitter” Drags Lifetime’s Aaliyah Movie

I did not see Lifetime’s Aaliyah movie, produced by Wendy Williams, who took up the helm after Zendaya left the project and it seemed like Lifetime was going to shelve the project. It would seem that she should have let the project die its natural death, since the end result was hundreds and thousands of fans rallying up as one to denounce the film and Lifetime’s casting choices of Aaliyah, Missy Elliot, Timbaland, R. Kelly and others.

“Sleepy Hollow”: The fandom strikes back (+ what we’ve learned)

What a time the Sleepy Hollow fandom has had. I’ve got to say, speaking honestly, I’m pooped.

If you’ve not followed everything concerning social media and Sleepy Hollow, I’m afraid I’m not going to fill you in myself. Instead, I’ll let TV Juriste, Salon and Entertainment Weekly fill it in for you. Basically, people have just about had it with Sleepy Hollow‘s first quarter of the second season.

“Sleepy Hollow”: Analyzing the “Deliverance” preview

The Examiner published this preview of “Deliverance,” and the mention of “Ichatrina” didn’t help the Ichabbie fans who seemed to have had a rough week, between the general concern of ratings, Katia Winter’s tweet, and other stuff.

TV Preview: Sleepy Hollow’s “Deliverance” A Turning Point and Test

Here are my two cents on what was discussed in the article, as well as some opinions on characterization.
